Tom is an environmental professional, communicator and businessperson.
During the past 30 years, Tom has led a variety of environmental
approvals, compliance, restoration, communications and sustainability
projects and initiatives. Through his work and research in Canada,
the U.S.A., China, Hong Kong, Japan, Equatorial Guinea, Venezuela,
Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey, Qatar and the U.A.E., he
has developed a broad appreciation for a full range of environmental
challenges and opportunities. Tom applies an “out of the
box” approach to his work; he is an idea generator and innovator.
He brings a deep respect for people and the environment to assignments
and blends science with communications skills and multi-media
tools to help facilitate optimal outcomes.
Tom has a strong grounding in the sciences having investigated
and developed an understanding of a variety of ecosystems including
wetlands, forests, grasslands and coastal and marine systems.
He has completed hundreds of assignments ranging from Impact Assessments
for individual developments to strategic regional and coastal
zone planning for territories covering thousands of square kilometers.
He has worked collaboratively amongst all manner of stakeholders
in an effort to optimize sustainable outcomes and has been engaged
by national, state, county and provincial bodies to help interpret
and apply science to legislation and policy development.
Tom has spoken before national and international audiences including
groups such as: Wetlands International, INTECOL, International
Association for Impact Assessment, Society of Wetland Scientists
and the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects.
