Throughout his career, Andy
has enthusiastically participated in numerous domestic and international
projects, which have embodied cartographic, geographic, and
graphic design principles. As a member of Savanta Inc., Andy
combines Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with his experience
as a graphic designer in the creation, collection, management,
analysis, and presentation of data to create meaningful and
comprehensive products.
Since 1988, Andy has been a leader in the digital evolution,
merging high resolution computer generated graphics with photographic
techniques. He has collaborated for many years with specialists
from various Canadian and international firms, on creative solutions
for environmentally focused projects. From these initiatives,
Andy has developed a broad understanding of environmental and
communications challenges.
Andy has led the design and graphic
components of projects including:
- Soils mapping and slope analyses;
- Canada Land Inventory mapping and analysis;
- Route selection and EIA for linear and other
industrial facilities;
- 3D modeling of wind turbines and the power
station to determine visual impacts;
- 3D modeling of pits and quarries for volume
options and rehabilitation programs;
- Tourism orientation maps and historical atlases;
and
- Design and creation of interactive CD-ROMs.
Over the years, Andy’s
skills have also been applied to a range of community and specialty
assignments including: magazine layout and design, University
field guide development, drawings for a local arts council, book
design, newspaper art direction and web page design.
Andy resides in Guelph,
Ontario, Canada where he and his wife have been running a successful
